Beginning in mid 2020 Reid started a project where he recorded short improvisations for skatchboxes and metal percussion and then sent them to people around the world to overdub their parts. The idea was to create a series of improvised duo albums involving people he had not met in real life and who lived in different geographical areas.

Collaborations have been made with people from Texas, France, Missouri, Minnesota, Indiana, Australia and Germany, with more to come. Meditations In An Emergency features Kyle Quass on trumpet, piano and electronics.

Reid Karris is a musician and composer from Chicago, Illinois focusing on free improvisation and noise using prepared guitar, homemade instruments and percussion.

Kyle Quass is a composer, trumpet player and sound artist based in Bloomington, Indiana. He has performed with such notable musicians as David Baker, Joe Henderson, Greg Osby, Tyshawn Sorey, Cory Smythe and Damon Smith among others. He has performed on numerous and varied recordings including releases by David Baker, Richard Bonnet, Frank Glover, Seth Davis, Craig Brenner, Murder By Death, Austin Lucas, Amy Stephens and La Medea. He has released around a dozen recordings under his own name, most of which can be purchased at his Bandcamp site. His latest recording on his own label is “finding light”, a collaboration with Evan Verploegh and Brendan Keller-Tuberg.
